Meeting Report: June 2021 – Martin Benge – From Grooves to Gigabytes

On Monday June 21st, the Melbourne Section of the AES held our regular bi-monthly meeting via Zoom.
There was a gratifyingly high attendance of more than forty members and visitors, many from interstate and overseas.
The forced move to Zoom has certainly increased the reach of our meetings.

Chairman Graeme Huon introduced Martin Benge to take us through his long and illustrious career as a recording engineer, producer, and studio manager at EMI’s Abbey Road (UK), Studios 301(Sydney), and beyond.

The next online meeting of the AES Melbourne Section will be on Monday 21st June April 2021 at 7:30pm.

Abbey Road and EMI Studios 301 engineer/producer/studio manager Martin Benge will present on the topic:

From Grooves to Gigabytes

Navigating the Recording Business from the Sixties Onward.

Martin will be talking about how he got started in the industry, his experiences at Abbey Road and will be reflecting on how the business operated in the early 60s while examining the timeline on technical developments.

Meeting Report: April 2021 – Remote Music Collaboration in the time of COVID-19

On Monday April 19th, the Melbourne Section of the AES held a Zoom call for our regular bi-monthly meeting, with a good attendance of almost thirty members and visitors.

June Meeting: Preliminary Notice

The next meeting of the AES Melbourne Section is scheduled for Monday 21st June 2021.

Martin Benge whose long and illustrious career included time at EMI’s London Abbey Road Studios and Sydney Studio 301.

I’m sure he will be a very interesting speaker.
