On Monday November 13th Peter Larsen, President and founder of loudspeaker design and testing software company LOUDSOFT presented to the AES Melbourne Section on the topic “Loudspeaker Design & Test Methods”

Nick Engel of Dolby Labs will present on the topic

Immersive Audio

From the Cinema to the Home

Nick will discuss the evolution of channel based audio to immersive audio formats and how this shifts the paradigm of audio authoring, delivery and playback. He will describe immersive representations such as object based immersive (OBI), channel based immersive (CBI) and sound field formats and cover key concepts and relevant ITU-R and SMPTE standards.
He will also provide a technical overview of Dolby Atmos (a widely deployed commercially available immersive system) as it is used in the cinema, in the home, and on portable devices.
